Not Fade Away: Sharing Quilt Stories in the Digital Age is a one-day conference about documenting, preserving and sharing the stories of quilts and their makers.  The event, sponsored by the Quilt Alliance, is scheduled for Herndon,Virginia in a little over a week.

Panel Discussion: Patching the Holes: Curators Reveal How They Solve the Mysteries of Unlabeled Quilts and What They Wish Every Quilt Could Tell Them.Prominent textile curators Nancy Bavor, Marin Hanson, Suzanne McDowell and Mary Worrall take us behind the scenes to explain the challenges of working with unlabeled quilts and unknown histories. They'll share their favorite quilt discoveries and provide insights about unlocking quilt stories. They will also list the priorities today's quiltmakers and quilt owners should keep in mind when documenting their own quilts.

Workshops:
Attendees will be able to take two workshops (one morning and one afternoon). Fees:$45 for Quilt Alliance members, $55 for non-members 

And if you can't get there:The organizers also offer “Home Tickets” for those who can't make the trip to Virginia. Home Ticket admission is $7 for Alliance members and $10 for non-members, and includes priority access to video footage of keynote speech, interviews and panel discussion portions of the event and an electronic version of the take-home resources.

The Not Fade Away conference will occur in conjunction with Sacred Threads, an international exhibition of quilts exploring themes of spirituality, joy, inspiration, peace/brotherhood, grief and healing. The exhibit runs from July 10-28 and one-day admission is included in the July 20 conference fee.Open to the public: Meet the Artists Reception: July 13, 2013, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

  1. I have a program that documents my quilts but really haven't used it since I got it, to review. I really should, I know it is frustrating to find a quilt and no information on them and being able to do it digitally is a nice idea.
